Prevailing Pattern

Appearances can be deceiving.

The prevailing winds are disturbing
the surface of the pond.
Today, it looks like a river.

Winds shift and perspectives change.

Truth is exposed when you know
all of the variables and can see
the entire picture with understanding.

Only the LORD can see clearly.
Thankfully, He loves to share insight with His children.

I do not want to be fooled by prevailing wind patterns.

Smiles

A duck just skidded to a stop.

The flight was graceful.
The landing was comical.

I’ve seen stones skipping across a pond.
This was the first duck I’ve seen ricochet.

Today is a good day to collect smiles.
The clumsy entrance makes the list.

Stuffed Baggage

Old trunks, that hold precious memories,
should be protected and stored as treasures.

Old suitcases, that hold personal junk,
should be destroyed and rejected as trash.

The containers are irrelevant.
The contents are costly.
One is forever giving.
The other is forever taking.

I choose to invest in the future.

Sunny Disposition

The birds are all hiding this morning.
They have taken cover to escape the driving rain.
I plan on doing the same.  I will hide in my nest.

Somehow, I need to take advantage of the situation.

I do not want to be trapped with a forlorn attitude.
After all, I'm stuck spending the day with myself.

I will put on some joyful music and refocus.
Taking time to declutter my mind will be a gift.

Somewhat Flustered

The wind is whipping the tree branches around.
The pond is churning.  Reflections are indistinct.

Even my mind is unsettled, rattled, and bouncing around.
My thoughts will not stay in one place.  I’m perplexed.

I’m waiting for things to calm down.  I’m impatient.
My muddled mind needs adjusting and anchoring.

It is time to pray.   It is time to seek peace.
It is time to tell the turbulent thoughts to be still.

Intrusions

Distractions can be extremely annoying.

The affect is multiplied
when I begin to concentrate on the disturbances.
Once I begin to follow the path of assumed infringement,
I elevate their power and allow them to usurp my ability
to enjoy the normally quiet morning hours.

The world will never follow my timeclock.
I need to control my reactions before exterior irritations
become absorbed and cause inner turmoil.

I’m working on it.
