Six young whitetails followed a trail through the snow.
They stayed in single file as they meandered through the
woods.
With their heads down against the wind, they took careful
steps.
The leader stopped four or five times for the last two to
catch up.
They took turns leaping over the distant stream, up the
embankment,
and out of my view.
I was saddened for the show to end and glanced longingly
back.
I was delighted to see another doe step out of the tree cover.
She had seven behind her!
I had the awesome pleasure of watching
this more seasoned group pursue the same course.
Once again, the last two struggled to keep up the pace.
I thank God for the beauty of His creation
and the pleasure of enjoying it with Him.
