Gosling Yoga

I had the extreme pleasure of watching a gosling yoga class.
Well, that is what their movements seemed to mimic.

They took a break from their feeding frenzy and plopped in the grass.
Little beaks started aggressively preening fluffy, feathered bodies.
Then they started stretching out their legs and holding the pose.
My favorite part was watching them extend their little wings.

They sat comfortably for about a minute.
Then they hopped up and started feasting.

Youngsters do not sit still for long stretches of time.

Rapport

I sat by the lake and talked with a friend.
It is a treat to enjoy a quiet, relaxing, and picturesque spot.

We chatted about our experiences, plans, and dreams.
We each enjoyed our view and sipped coffee.

We each have a favorite lake near our home.
Our homes are about 1,700 miles apart.
Location, location, and technology blessed our day.

We each thank God for the priceless treasure called friendship.

Bypass

There is a sign announcing the position of a scenic overlook.
We have driven past it many times.  We hardly even notice it now.
We think we already know the area.  We just keep driving.

This morning, I’m wondering if we are missing something spectacular.

There is something about highways that limits my curiosity.
They are the fast track.  They are designed to quickly bypass areas.

Does the first one to arrive win?
Does enjoying the ride even matter?

Why am I in such a hurry to get from point “A” to point “B”?

Novices

We sat on the bank and watched people play on the lake.
We were relaxed, comfortable, and a wee bit envious.

We enjoyed seeing how many different ways people paddle.
There was a very wide range of experience and skill demonstrated.
Some crafts maneuvered through the water beautifully.
Most of the vessels plugged along determinedly.

We could empathize with the obvious beginners.
Someday, we want to glide like swans.
For now, we resemble one legged ducks.

We need to get oars back in the water.

Cultivating

What would happen if I prayed
a prayer of blessing
every time I left or entered my nest?

I’m not interested in rote utterances.
I’m talking about intentional, personal,
and heartfelt desires set before the LORD.

Cultivating healthy habits rewards everyone.

It is time to purposefully fill my home
with treasures from heaven.

Symphonic Snippets

My current limitations will not always limit me.
I can push back the boundaries by educating myself.
Knowledge is valuable enough to be pursued.

I do not have a trained ear.  I hear a blended melody.
I notice snippets of undefinable parts to the symphony.

The songbirds are boisterously welcoming the day.
I want to be able to distinguish separate voices.
I want to be able to thank God for each unique contribution.

Being able to carry the piece of music with me
would be a wondrous treat.
