Duped

I was so excited, chipper, and energized.
I was productive.  I was delusional.

I’m so disappointed.  And I have no right to be.
I just realized that today is Thursday – only Thursday!

How did I wake up this morning and ignore a whole day?

Now I have an “extra” day in my week.
What will I do with the time?

Watching the River

The music I listened to as a young adult still lingers
and whispers a sweet refrain in my heart.

Some songs are treasures that speak to us and enrich our lives.

A young man once sat on a log and serenaded me.
He played his guitar and sang, a Loggins & Messina song,
Watching the River Run.

We are still watching that river and enjoying the journey.

Subplot

What will I learn today?
How will my world shift?
I have no idea.

Actually, every morning starts like this.
Life is an ongoing, ever unfolding, adventure.

I’m a main character in my own novel.
The next chapter might be really exciting.
I have a vested interest in how it will be written.

A new subplot has been introduced.
And, with the Lord’s guidance,
I will enjoy living and sharing the experience.

Cartographer

New information can boggle the mind.
Juggling scenarios can be exhausting.

God is not surprised.
Fear of the unknown will not enter our hearts.
Trusting God facilitates freedom and releases faith.

We will not be able to see around the corner
until we make the turn.
We will not understand the terrain of the journey
until we start walking.

We do not have a map.
But, we hold the hand of the map maker!

Ambiance

Even with fully charged batteries, I still needed a kick start.
My routine was a little off, so I had to motivate myself.
A change in the atmosphere could increase my energy level.

So I turned on one of my favorite music channels.
Now jazz is playing and I just have to move with the beat.

Now I have a livelier step and my creative juices are flowing.
Creating my own ambiance enhances my day.

I thank God for music and the joy that it brings.

Sowing Patterns

Relaxation ushers in contentment.
Exhaustion breeds irritation and dissatisfaction.
My intentions and expectations define my inaction.

My attitude saturates each moment.
I soak up the residue of my meditations.

The spaces between flurries of activity
reveal who we are
and help mold us for the future.
