BREAK OF DAWN

Don’t dwell
on the darkness
surrounding you.
Don’t try
to see through it.
Focus
on the sunrise.
A new day
is surely coming.
There is joy
in the morning.
The night will recede.
Wait
and see the beauty
to be revealed.
Stay snug,
wrapped in peace,
until the gift
arrives
in full measure.

Antivenin

Our choices mold us.
Our voices expose us.

Some people are so hurt and bitter
that they want to share their poison.
They try to deliver venom through a phone call.
Do not swallow what they are offering.

Deliberately train yourself
to quickly turn the situation over to God.
He is the only one with the antivenin.

Forgiveness and prayer releases peace and joy.
Maturity in Christ protects you
from experiencing toxic effects from the encounter.

Pause

Some mornings seem to pause and just hover on the horizon.

Low-hanging clouds have filled the forest with a blanket of mist.
As bright sunshine breaks through the higher clouds,
I am startled by an infusion of joy and peace.

Gazing into the distance stirs a longing in my soul to explore.

I will delay my plans and embrace the moment.

Cankerous

Procrastination is a cankerous sore spot.

Left unchecked, it poisons well intentions.

When nagging tasks are finally conquered,
relief replaces frustration
and peace flows freely.

I thank God for successful seek and destroy missions.

Humming Along

Are you listening to the melody
our Father is singing over us with joy;
or, are you concentrating
on the discord of the world’s song?

The music you choose to carry with you
will saturate your soul.

Your spiritual ears will opening
or closing
with the tune you select  each day.

Intentionally learn the collection of symphonies of love.
Hum along to your hearts content.

Accurate Picture

An accurate picture of reality
cannot be taken through a peephole.
Even large windows limit the view.

Hyper focus can distort truth.
Casual glances miss information.

Protect me from extremes, LORD.

I need your perspective.
Show me where to look,
explain what I’m seeing,
and teach me discernment.
