Wind Chill

Some mornings require a cup of hot tea, a warm scone,
and extra prayers for protection and wisdom.

Thankfully, the wind has died down a little.
I can now sit by the window
without the threat of getting motion sickness.

There is a doe hunkered against the wind.
She is under a tree and flanked by tall bushes.
She knows how to escape the worst of the blustery snow.
Some days require defensive measures.

I want another blueberry scone.
I will settle for another cup of hot tea.

Warm Repose

There are beautiful patterns carved in the snow.
The wind of the storm left marks to marvel.

The three does hidden in the glade are resting.
Their adventure in the storm is over.
Each one is reclined in her own sunbeam.

Life is refreshed and back to normal.

I’m basking in the warmth of sunshine.

Winging It

A hawk flew through my snow globe.
He did not appear to be hunting.
His lunch is hiding under a white blanket.

Plan “B” seems to be the order for the day.

I’ve decided to enjoy the time,
get a lot done around the nest,
and be thankful for a safe, warm place
to watch the snow dance in the wind.

Miniature Blessings

Going to the grocery store can be an extreme sport.
I take on a divide and conquer mentality when I enter.
I usually avoid shopping on weekends to skip the hassle
of too many carts being pushed by people without a plan.

I picked the wrong time to break my routine.
Yesterday afternoon was a nightmare of confusion.
A blizzard forecast caused a feeding frenzy.
Thankfully, I got out of there physically unscathed.

Everything on the list made it safely home.

Miniature tea roses now brighten up our treehouse.

Even a frugal shopper can include items designed to feed the soul.

Camaraderie

I love spending time in a coffee shop.
A welcoming sense of camaraderie
greets you at the door.

Leaning back into a comfy chair,
chatting with a friend, sharing life,
and sipping pleasure is a gift to savor.

I thank God for mini vacations that rejuvenate the soul.

GEM

How do you freeze
a moment in time?
Capture it
and make it your own.

Savor each cleansing breath
as treasure from heaven.
With a thankful heart,
acknowledge His
gift.
Journal memories.
They are precious jewels
of peace
and contentment.
Walk in confidence
knowing
the best is yet to come!
