Applauding

There are four Great Egrets visiting the pond.

Their startling, white plumage demands attention.

The elegant birds are a delight to behold.

I feel privileged to be able to observe them.

I wonder how long I will live here before

I’m no longer surprised by the surrounding beauty?

At some point in the future

what amazes me now

may become common place.

Prayerfully, I will still applaud.

Perch

The Osprey has returned 

and is searching for breakfast.

He’s beautiful.  He is majestic.

Today, success came quickly.

He's flying off with his catch.

Yesterday, he lingered in a nearby tree.

I had the extreme pleasure of spying.

Aided by binoculars, I was able to study.

Being this close to an awesome little pond

is like having my own private bird sanctuary.

I’m thankful for being blessed

with such a fun place for me to perch.

Synopsis

I’m enjoying sorting through special moments

from our Christmas gathering.

I’m deciding what events and conversations to savor.

Some experiences will be highlighted.

Some will be covered with grace and then discarded.

I treasure time spent with my family.

Each present is wrapped in grace.

They are all lovingly placed

under the tree
