Revisit

We visited a historical site.
We walked through corridors of the past.
Spaces, frozen in time, held secrets.
Elusive memories lurked in the corners.
The activity of life was gone.

We allowed our imaginations to run wild.
A myriad of possible scenarios sprinted through our minds.
Curiosity and childlike wonder enhanced our day.

The price of admission did not include time travel.
We had to bring the desire to see beyond the obvious with us.
Repeat visits will be necessary.  We missed more than we noticed.

Flash Mob

I was blessed with a visit from a flock of Cedar Waxwings.
But, their silhouettes looked different this morning.
The sky was a bright, light gray, quickly moving cloudbank.
The spindly branches they were perched on were waving and dancing.
The little birds had appeared to be hunched over into little orbs.

I was curious and had to get my binoculars for a closer look.

They were engaged in a mass cleaning exercise.
Their abrupt, burst of activity looked choreographed.
(It cannot be easy to preen in a wind tunnel.)
Like a flash mob, they entertained and then disappeared.

I’m thankful for every quick, little glimpse into their world.

Whimpering

We are dog sitting. We call her our Grandpuppy.

She woke me up way too early this morning.

She was whimpering because of a storm.
For her, the peace of our home was disturbed
by thunder and a heavy downpour.
I went and sat near her.  She immediately calmed.
She relaxed in my presence, ignored the storm,
and went back to a peaceful slumber.

This silly example triggered a serious thought.
When I whimper I can feel my Lord draw closer
and I’m comforted by His presence.

I can almost hear my Father in heaven proclaiming
how cute I am when I’m sleeping.

Intrinsic

There is something inherently inviting about places where gatherings are expected.
Providing and preparing the space and the time to fellowship is a gift of love.
Waiting for friends and family to arrive, to celebrate and enjoy life, is part of the fun.
Being invited, accepted, embraced, and a participant in the celebration of life is thrilling.
Sharing joy enhances our lives.  Creating opportunities to relax and chat are vital.

I cannot afford to allow the business of each week to usurp the nurturing of friendships.

Life has a laughter quota that I intend to fulfill and surpass expectations.

PARTAKE AND APPLY

The word of the Lord lights my path.
It does not waver.
It burns steady and strong.

Neglect will not snuff it out.

Closing my eyes causes me stumble.
Lack of focus hurts me.

I need to keep my eyes wide open.
Absorbing and following brings healing.
A steady course strengthens me.

He has provided.  I will partake.
I will enjoy and share the bounty.
