Obligations

We have a long list of things to do
in preparation for the coming change of season.
So, I prayed for us to be able to focus
and get everything done.

I specifically asked Holy Spirit to reveal anything
that could fall through the cracks
and enable us to stay on top of them.
Then I envisioned us sitting on a stack of responsibilities
as we fell into the abyss with them.
More prayer is needed.

Thankfully, God knows my heart and my concerns.
I’ve given them to Him.  I’m not in this alone.

Enlightenment

There is a hot air balloon floating across the hazy sky.
The morning sunshine is trying to burn through the mist.
The forest seems to be whispering, reluctant to break the mood.
Even the birds are quietly greeting the new day.

Some morning skies
beg to be photographed and applauded.
This one saturates dry places in the souls
of those receiving the hug from God.

Leaning closer,
absorbing and returning the embrace
is the only response necessary.

Companionship

Even before you live them, you know
that some days are going to be special.

Today, I get to spend time with a friend.

I cherish time set aside for leisurely chats.
A drive through the countryside is often enhanced
by the places our conversations take us.

I thank God for the gift of companionship.

Highlighted

I love it when Holy Spirit highlights a scripture.
He reminds me to take the message very personally.

This morning I glanced at a painting near my desk.
It displays one of my favorite verses in Morse code.
The reminder encouraged me and made me smile.

Then I opened my Bible. I had to laugh
when the book marked page
had the very passage highlighted earlier.

God is cool! I do trust Him!

(My reminder was is Proverbs 3.)

Breakthrough

Part of the grandeur of God’s creation is on display.
There is a latticework of small clouds filling the sky.
Sunbeams are stretching down and touching the earth.

Some obstacles add to the beauty of the day
when my focus is diverted to the places of breakthrough.

Dizzy

It is amazing to me
to see how changing one little word,
to make sentences more personal,
drastically changes the connotation.

The world is spinning so fast
and I cannot comprehend how everything holds together.
God knows how the world is rotating.
He created it.

My world is spinning so fast
and I cannot comprehend how everything holds together.
God knows how my world is rotating.
He created me.

He holds it all together.
Somehow, holding onto Him keeps me from getting dizzy.
