Joy Ride

I get tired of being in places where I have to be quiet.
I need to laugh loudly and shout for joy.
I need to shake things up without scaring the neighbors.
So, today, I will go on a joy ride.

Safety issues must be continually addressed.
Traffic laws must be followed.
Decorum is not an issue and must not be followed.

I find a secluded road or stretch of highway and yell.
I open all of the windows so the wind can capture the thrill.

This also works well for screams of frustration, but today
I must loudly shout exclamations of blissfulness!

Pirouette

A stiff breeze just sent maple seeds twirling across the sky.
After being successively scattered, they pirouetted downward.

The funny, petite seedpods have always fascinated me.
They get the job done in such a whimsical way.

I love little reminders of our Father’s playfulness.

Expectant

I will miss being able to gaze into expansive fields and secret glades.
Easy access to view life traveling through the forest is a wintery treat.

My lush forest is finally, fully back.
Beautiful green leaves flutter in the gentle breeze.

Each spring highlights changes made from past seasons.
Each summer my view becomes more restricted by new growth.

I could lament what I have lost.
I choose to rejoice over new blessings.

I love the change of seasons and the special opportunities
each one provides for more exploration.

Sweet Exchange

I sat quietly among the trees
absorbing the peaceful morning
while listening to songbirds greet the day.

Two Gold Finches flew to a nearby tree,
bounced from branch to branch,
and spoke to each other.

I had no idea what they were talking about,
but I loved witnessing the sweet exchange.

I thank God for special moments
taken to celebrate simple pleasures.

Updraft

I have seen an Eagle catch an updraft and soar.
I have seen a Hummingbird perch on a thin branch and rest.
I can relate to both of them.

This morning I sit and rest while listening to a chorus of songbirds.
My soul soars on the rising melodies.

My feathery friends are delightful.

Lord, show me where to fly.

Digestive Enzymes

what we want to say = A
what we say = B
what they hear = C
what they decide it means = D
what they want to say = E
what they say = F
what we decide it means = G

What we have is alphabet soup.
We need the LORD to ladle it out for us.

Love digests all of it and we are strengthened.

Vital Link

Easy, quickly accessible communication is awesome.

I can see two cellphone towers from this vantage point.
Soon telephone poles will be as common as telegraph poles.

I do feel safer and more connected with a phone in my pocket.
However, this little piece of equipment is not my lifeline.

Talking with my Heavenly Father does not require a device.

He speaks with me in a number of instantaneous ways.
One way He shares with me is through the beauty of His creation.
When I look out onto the lush fields and lavish forest I smile.
I know His love, provision, creativeness, and playfulness.
Not a word needs to be spoken and I already hear Him.
