Flight Cancelled

We grumbled when our flight was delayed
(all three times).
Then we grumbled when our flight was cancelled
(last available that night).
We were not happy campers when our next flight was cancelled
(when we sat down at our gate at 5am).
We found out that all of the flights back were full
(until this morning – at the crack of dawn).

So, yesterday, we finally decided to pray,
stop grumbling, and turn the extra time over to the Lord.

He blessed us with so many answered prayers!
A long list of things clicked together
in ways that will bless our lives for decades to come.

If we had remained frustrated,
then we would have missed miracles.

Life runs more smoothly when we pray.
Trusting God with our day brings peace.

Some Weekends

We wandered down unfamiliar pathways.
We shared our dreams and desires.
We held hands and absorbed the peace of unity.
We thanked God for new adventures.

Some weekends are full of treasured moments.
Some weekends help define our expectations.
Some weekends are blessed with exploration.

We enjoyed our weekend.

Confirmation

Sometimes, I just have to cry tears of delight
and awesome wonder.  God is so good!

This morning I was praying very specifically.
I flipped my Bible open to where I ended yesterday.
I starting reading and then turned the page.
There was a dated notation I had made in the margin.
I rejoiced when I read the note and the verses.
I flipped back in my journal and read that days entry.

Confirmation, that you are on the right track,
is so cool!  God is so good!

Subtle

My face did not actually freeze.
But, as usual, Mom was right.

Our most often used expressions
leave an imprint on our faces.

Personally, I favor laugh lines over frown marks.

I did discover a quick cure for bothersome wrinkles.
I turned my makeup mirror around.
I no longer want the magnification side.

Laugh lines prefer subtlety.

Pondering

I keep getting in my way.
I keep getting ahead of myself,
I trip over my feet, and then
I have to stop to regroup.

Properly planning provides profuse possibilities.
Procrastination perpetuates plentiful problems.
Panic plunders.  Poise placates. Peace prevails.

Please, get a grip!
I need to live in the present.
But, I’m so excited about the future.

Profit Sharing

Years ago, with temporary relief in mind,
we purchased two small beach chairs.
They are lightweight, have a very handy carrying strap,
and they are comfortable.

Yesterday, dreaming of trips to the beach,
we decided to go on a date.
We grabbed supplies, made a quick stop at a deli,
and headed out to the country.

We were blessed with a perfect spot.
We enjoyed a picnic in the shade of an apple tree.

Taking time to enjoy simple pleasures pays huge dividends.
