American Goldfinches

I learned, today, that American Goldfinches have a po - ta - to - chip flight call.  I love that!  Next time I spy one flying around outback, I will go out onto the balcony and listen.  They seem to fly like a bird with ADHD.  They flit, dart, bounce, land, and then start the whole dance over again.  The bright yellow makes them easier to follow.  They put on a show that makes me smile.

One just flew by and I'm heading outside....

Today's show has started.  A beautiful splash of yellow skipped through the air, perched on a bobbing branch, rested a bit, took off with a burst of energy, and then returned to visit a nearby thicket.  From my vantage point, I can hear singing.  I need to learn bird calls.  I can not pick out any  " po - ta - to - chip" over the rush hour traffic.  I think I heard somebody singing "cheese", but I could just be hungry.

I thank God for this special gift of time to watch my quickly answered prayer feast on a patch of thistle.  Small delights bring great joy, when I take the time to notice!
