Elusive

As the profusion of wild flowers dwindles,
I lament over rain soaked fields.
I long for sunshine and warmth.

Little teases of clear, blue skies are infrequent.
I have to remind myself that the forest is lush
because of the copious rainstorms.

I need to give myself a stern reality check
and be thankful that it is no longer snowing.

Contentment is elusive under continual gray skies.
LORD, help me to see the beauty hidden in the rain.
