Impatience Versus Anticipation

We went for a long drive in the countryside.
We meandered through an old campus
and took pictures of the stunning architecture.
We sat in the shade in a courtyard and enjoyed a snack.
We stopped at the lake on the way home and talked.

Too many scenarios were racing through our heads.
We had enjoyed the beautiful day, but had no answers.
We wanted to know the future, now.

Then the LORD gave us a reality check.

A lady at the park revealed that the Triple Crown had been achieved.
We were disappointed to know the outcome in advance.
We had recorded the race and wanted to watch it when we got home.
We wanted to enjoy the thrill of anticipation.
Knowing the results before watching a sporting event is anticlimactic.

So why do we want to know how life will play out?

Our Father showed us a valuable lesson about expectations.
We love His sense of humor.
