Out of Kilter

Yesterday was Monday.
I was out of kilter.
My mind could not focus.

Even the clouds were going in the wrong direction.
The higher clouds were following the normal weather pattern
and the lower ones traveled faster in opposite routes.

I did what healthy adults do when they need help.
I went to the drug store and bought a bottle of bubbles.

I sent iridescent orbs dancing heavenward in front of the pizza parlor.
The stress of the strange and unsettling day just floated
out of reach and disintegrated.

Smiles cost me less than two dollars.
