Alfresco Lunch

We enjoyed our meal next to the historic canal.
Butterflies delighted us as they danced past our table.
Pink shrub roses lined the old train track beside us.
An herb garden spoke of freshness to be shared.
The late summer day was a blessing from God.
With thankfulness, we chatted as only good friends can.

Then, I bit down on something in my fried oyster.
It did not feel like shell or tooth, so I was not worried.
After I cleaned off the uninvited guest,
confusion turned into amazement.

I held a pea-sized pearl!  God is so cool!
Only He can change irritants into treasures.
